The Chatham Garden Club meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at the Chatham Community Center. We gather at 12:30pm for friendship and refreshments and our programs commence at 1:00pm unless otherwise noted.

Please join us as Dr. Alyssa Novak, research faculty at Boston University and leader in recent analysis, shares her findings on the plight of dwindling eelgrass. With a focus on ecology and conservation, she knows the crucial role of eelgrass and also the conditions that threaten this marine plant. Working with Cape Cod National Seashore, Dr. Novak’s summer field study focuses on climate-adapted restoration efforts of eelgrass located at Pleasant Bay. She will explain the project, the goal of her study, and the outcomes.

Presented by Beth Taylor. The Monarch butterfly is the poster child for adding native plants to our gardens. But what about all the other butterflies and moths on Cape Cod? This talk aims to increase your appreciation of the diversity of caterpillars, their amazing techniques for survival, their importance in the ecosystem, and the host plants which support them. Beth, a member of the club, started collecting insects seriously at 8 years old, became the state 4-H Entomology winner in PA at 16 and went on to do tropical ecology research in Costa Rica for her Masters.

Deborah Trickett, an award-winning container garden designer, is the owner of “The Captured Garden”. She has been featured in the Boston Globe and the “New England Dream Home,” lectured at the Boston Flower and Garden Show and taught classes at the Arnold Arboretum.
