Chase Park
Chase Park
Located on Cross Street only a short distance from downtown, the front section of Chase Park is maintained by the Chatham Garden Club. The garden is a mixture of perennials and seasonal annuals. Roses and small hydrangeas are the foundation for many brightly colored flowers. Chase Park is a town jewel and a perfect park for a relaxing stroll.
Inside the park there are a diverse collection of many mature trees as well as young ones planted to replace trees lost to storms and disease. Credit for these trees is given to another important Chatham non-profit -- Friends of Trees -- they have been active in the park by planting trees, clearing the areas beneath them, and providing water bags to give the young trees nourishment during the hot and dry summers. In 2016, Friends of Trees selected 25 noteworthy trees and labeled them with their names and a QR code that allows the user to learn useful information about the species.
